A prisão de Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor por suas associações ao escândalo Epstein está repleta de aspectos peculiares, tanto num sentido simbólico quanto num sentido histórico. A prisão foi realizada no dia do 66º aniversário de Andrew, em 19 de fevereiro de 2026, 666 dias depois daquele estranho evento em Londres, em 24 de abril de 2024, no qual um cavalo branco ensanguentado se soltou e cavalgou pelas ruas da cidade. Coincidência? Quem sabe?

A acusação, especificamente, envolve inúmeros relatos e evidências, deduzidos a partir dos e-mails de Epstein e de depoimentos de testemunhas, de que Andrew teria participado, acompanhado e colaborado no abuso sexual de mulheres de diversas idades, inclusive meninas potencialmente pré-púberes, e na tortura, também, de crianças e adolescentes – tortura com conotação ou contornos sexuais. Definitivamente, um comportamento atroz e repulsivo.

Andrew, que não é mais príncipe, duque, conde ou barão, tendo perdido todos os seus títulos e os direitos a eles associados, não obstante segue sendo irmão do Rei Carlos III, atual soberano do Reino Unido.

Se estamos nos referindo a polêmicas envolvendo a família real britânica, porém, a figura de Carlos III nos remete rapidamente à estranha morte da princesa Diana, que por um tempo foi esposa do rei britânico quando ele ainda era o príncipe de Gales.

Diana foi princesa de Gales e esposa do atual Rei Carlos de 1981 até 1996, quando se divorciou dele. Nunca saberemos os motivos reais do divórcio, para além das explicações dadas publicamente, as quais passam, por exemplo, por traições do príncipe, bem como pressões constantes da família real sobre ela. Mas aí então há aqueles que insistem que parte das tensões de Diana com a família real envolve segredos muito mais profundos sobre os quais a princesa teria tido conhecimento, incluindo aí o envolvimento de membros da família real com pedofilia e abuso sexual.

Não temos como ter certeza sobre qualquer coisa desse tipo, mas a amizade de Jimmy Savile com membros da família real britânica é, certamente, desconcertante. Jimmy Savile, falecido em 2011, foi um DJ e personalidade midiática britânica que trabalhava na estatal BBC. Mas ele é mais conhecido como sendo um pervertido aberrante que teria abusado sexualmente de centenas de crianças ao longo de décadas. Muito convenientemente, a mídia britânica esperou o falecimento de Savile para expor os seus “podres”. Quase como se todos já soubessem de tudo…

Savile teria conhecido pessoalmente o rei Carlos, quando ele ainda era príncipe, nos anos 70 do século XX, em eventos de caridade. Mas ele rapidamente teria se tornado surpreendentemente íntimo da família real, atuando como conselheiro em inúmeros temas. Segundo Diana, Carlos à época via Savile quase como um guru, um mentor. Savile chegou a dizer, porém, que ele conhecia a família real britânica há ainda mais tempo, desde os anos 60; tendo sido introduzido nos negócios da família real pelo lorde Louis Mountbatten, ex-governador de Burma…e notório pedófilo com predileção por menininhos.

Savile, porém, não era apenas um “consumidor”, ele era também um “fornecedor”. Pelo menos é o que diz seu sobrinho, Guy Marsden, que afirma que Savile organizava festas orgiásticas nas quais o diferencial era a “oferta” de crianças – meninos e meninas – a membros da elite britânica. O sobrinho de Savile diz crer que a maioria das crianças vinha de orfanatos e abrigos. Isso situa Savile numa função semelhante – ainda que talvez de menor envergadura – a Jeffrey Epstein. Savile, aparentemente, não era tão próximo de Andrew quanto ele era do príncipe de Gales, mas o próprio Andrew, numa entrevista infame realizada em 2019, afirmou ter passado muito mais tempo com Savile do que com Epstein.

Retornando a Louis Mountbatten, o tio-avô do rei Carlos III, além de amigo de Jimmy Savile, recentemente alguns vazamentos de arquivos levaram ao conhecimento público o fato de que ele teria abusado de dezenas, ou mesmo centenas de meninos. Uma parcela dos abusos teria ocorrido na Irlanda do Norte, no lar de crianças de Kincora, em Belfast – local em que o orfanato, aparentemente, servia como “bufê” de crianças para membros da elite política e militar britânica, tudo operado pelo MI5. O orfanato foi fechado em 1980, 1 ano após o lorde Mountbatten ser justiçado pelo IRA.

Não há muitos outros escândalos envolvendo pedofilia em conexão com a família real britânica, mas nem por isso deixa de haver outros escândalos sexuais graves.

Se voltarmos ainda mais no tempo, para o final do século XIX, chegaremos à época dos famosos assassinatos de Whitechapel. Canonicamente, 5 mulheres foram assassinadas, com o mesmo modus operandi, por um homem que tornou-se notório no folclore macabro como “Jack o Estripador”. Ninguém nunca foi preso, nenhum culpado foi descoberto, e as teorias abundam.

Uma das mais notórias, é a teoria que conecta os assassinatos à figura do príncipe Alberto Vítor, Duque de Clarence. Alberto, cuja reputação já foi historicamente afetada pela revelação de que ele frequentava um bordel masculino na rua Cleveland, em Londres, passou a ser considerado, com o passar do tempo, o principal suspeito de ser o notório serial killer. O seu conhecimento de caça seria suficiente para dar conta da parte técnica das mortes. Ademais, recentemente ficou comprovado que ele padecia de sífilis e/ou gonorreia, doenças sexualmente transmissíveis que, se não tratadas, levam à insanidade.

As teorias, em cima dessa hipótese, se bifurcam. Há alguns que alegam que o próprio assassino era o príncipe, acometido de surtos de insanidade que o levavam a retaliar contra prostitutas, vistas talvez, enquanto classe, como responsáveis por seu sofrimento. Outros alegam que os assassinatos, na verdade, teriam sido cometidos a mando da família real com o objetivo de ocultar escândalos sexuais nos quais o príncipe Alberto teria estado envolvido, incluindo um possível casamento secreto com uma plebeia, realizado numa taverna e testemunhado por prostitutas.

Diferentemente dos casos mais recentes, a verdade sobre Jack o Estripador e suas possíveis conexões com a família real britânica dificilmente virão à luz, especialmente por todo o tempo que já passou.

Ainda assim, certamente há algo de podre fluindo nas profundezas do Reino Unido da Grã-Bretanha e Irlanda do Norte.

Dopo Epstein, nulla può continuare come prima: né i valori del dopoguerra del “mai più” – che riflettevano il sentimento alla fine delle guerre sanguinose – e il desiderio diffuso di una società “più equa”; né l’economia bipolare delle disparità estreme di ricchezza; né la fiducia – dopo la venalità, le istituzioni marce e le perversioni che i documenti Epstein hanno dimostrato essere endemiche tra alcune delle élite occidentali.

Come parlare di “valori” in questo contesto?

A Davos, Mark Carney ha chiarito che l’“ordine delle regole” non era altro che una facciata Potemkin pacchiana che era ben nota come falsa, eppure la facciata è stata mantenuta. Perché? Semplicemente perché l’inganno era utile. L’“urgenza” era la necessità di nascondere il crollo del sistema in un nichilismo radicale e anti-valori.

Nascondere la realtà che le cerchie d’élite – attorno a Epstein – operavano al di là dei limiti morali, legali o umani, per decidere tra pace e guerra, sulla base dei loro appetiti meschini. Le élite capivano che una volta che la completa amoralità dei governanti fosse stata conosciuta dalla massa, l’Occidente avrebbe perso l’architettura delle storie morali che ancorano precisamente una vita ordinata. Se l’establishment è noto per rifuggire dalla moralità, perché qualcun altro dovrebbe comportarsi diversamente?

Il cinismo si diffonderebbe a cascata. Cosa terrebbe allora unita una nazione?

Beh, solo il totalitarismo, molto probabilmente.

La “caduta” postmoderna nel nichilismo si è finalmente schiantata contro il suo inevitabile “vicolo cieco” (come previsto da Nietzsche nel 1888). Il paradigma dell’“Illuminismo” si è finalmente trasformato nel suo opposto: un mondo senza valori, significato o scopo (al di là dell’avido arricchimento personale). Ciò implica anche la fine del concetto stesso di Verità che era al centro della civiltà occidentale sin dai tempi di Platone.

Il crollo sottolinea anche i fallimenti della Ragione meccanica occidentale: “Questo tipo di ragionamento a priori, a cerchio chiuso, ha avuto un effetto molto più grande sulla cultura occidentale di quanto potremmo immaginare… Ha portato all’imposizione di regole che si ritengono irrefutabili, non perché sono state rivelate, ma perché sono state scientificamente provate, e quindi non c’è appello contro di esse”, osserva Aurelien .

Questo modo di pensare meccanico ha giocato un ruolo importante nel terzo livello della “rottura di Davos” (dopo la scomparsa intellettuale e il crollo della fiducia nella leadership). Il pensiero meccanico basato su una visione deterministica e pseudo-scientifica del mondo ha portato a contraddizioni economiche che hanno impedito agli economisti occidentali di vedere ciò che era sotto i loro occhi: un sistema economico iper-finanziarizzato posto interamente al servizio degli oligarchi e degli addetti ai lavori.

Nessun fallimento dei nostri modelli economici, per quanto grande, “ha indebolito la morsa degli economisti matematici sulle politiche dei governi. Il problema è stato che la scienza, in quella modalità binaria di causa-effetto, non è riuscita a far fronte né al caos né alla complessità della vita” (Aurelien). Altre teorie – diverse dalla fisica newtoniana – come la teoria quantistica o la teoria del caos sono state in gran parte escluse dal nostro modo di pensare.

Il significato di “Davos” – seguito dalle rivelazioni su Epstein – è che l’Humpty-Dumpty della fiducia è caduto dal muro e non può essere ricomposto.

Ciò che è anche evidente è che le cerchie di Epstein non erano composte solo da individui perversi; “Ciò che è stato smascherato indica pratiche sistematiche, organizzate e ritualizzate”. E questo cambia tutto, come osserva il commentatore Lucas Leiroz:

“Reti di questo tipo esistono solo quando sono sostenute da una profonda protezione istituzionale. Non esiste pedofilia rituale, traffico di esseri umani su scala transnazionale, produzione sistematica di materiale estremo senza la copertura politica, poliziesca, giudiziaria e mediatica. Questa è la logica del potere”.

Dalle innumerevoli e-mail Epstein emerge certamente come un pedofilo e un individuo assolutamente immorale, ma anche come una persona altamente intelligente e un attore geopolitico di rilievo, le cui intuizioni politiche erano apprezzate da figure di alto livello in tutto il mondo. Era un maestro della geopolitica, come ha descritto Michael Wolff (già nel 2018, così come nella corrispondenza e-mail recentemente pubblicata) nella guerra tra il potere ebraico e i gentili.

Ciò suggerisce che Epstein fosse meno uno strumento dei servizi segreti e più un loro “pari”. Non c’è da stupirsi che i leader cercassero la sua compagnia (anche per ragioni gravemente immorali, non possiamo ignorarlo). Ed è chiaro che lo Stato profondo (unipartitico) ha manovrato attraverso di lui. E alla fine, Epstein sapeva troppo.

David Rothkopf, egli stesso ex consigliere per gli affari politici nel campo democratico statunitense, riflette sul significato di Epstein per l’America:

“I giovani americani si rendono conto che le loro istituzioni li stanno deludendo e che dovranno salvarsi da soli… Ci sono decine di migliaia di persone a Minneapolis che affermano che non si tratta più di questioni costituzionali, dello Stato di diritto o della democrazia, che possono sembrare concetti positivi, ma che sono lontani dalla realtà della persona media”.

“La gente dice che la Corte Suprema non ci proteggerà, che il Congresso non ci proteggerà, che il Presidente è il nemico, che sta schierando il suo esercito nelle nostre città. Gli unici che possono proteggerci siamo noi stessi”.

“Sono ‘gli stupidi miliardari’” [un riferimento al vecchio slogan: “È l’economia, stupido”]. Rothkopf spiega:

“Quello che intendo dire è che, se non si capisce che l’uguaglianza e l’impunità dell’élite sono questioni centrali per tutti, che le persone pensano che il sistema sia truccato e non funzioni a loro vantaggio… non credono più che il sogno americano sia reale e che il controllo del Paese sia stato sottratto da una manciata di persone super ricche, che non pagano le tasse e diventano sempre più ricche, mentre il resto di noi rimane sempre più indietro, [allora non si può comprendere la disperazione odierna tra gli under 35]”.

Rothkopf sostiene che l’episodio di Davos/Epstein segna la rottura tra il popolo e le classi dirigenti.

“Le società occidentali si trovano ora di fronte a un dilemma che non può essere risolto attraverso elezioni, commissioni parlamentari o discorsi. Come si può continuare ad accettare l’autorità di istituzioni che hanno protetto un tale livello di orrore? Come si può mantenere il rispetto per leggi applicate in modo selettivo da persone che vivono al di sopra di esse?”, afferma Leiroz.

La perdita di rispetto, tuttavia, non è il nocciolo della questione. Nessun partito politico convenzionale ha una risposta al fallimento dell’economia “da tavolo da cucina”: la mancanza di posti di lavoro ragionevolmente ben retribuiti, l’accesso ai servizi sanitari, l’istruzione e gli alloggi costosi.

Nessun partito mainstream può fornire una risposta credibile a queste questioni esistenziali perché, per decenni, l’economia è stata esattamente “truccata”, riorientata strutturalmente verso un’economia finanziarizzata basata sul debito, a scapito dell’economia reale.

Ciò richiederebbe che l’attuale struttura di mercato liberale anglosassone fosse completamente sradicata e sostituita da un’altra. Ciò richiederebbe un decennio di riforme e gli oligarchi lo combatterebbero apertamente.

Idealmente, potrebbero emergere nuovi partiti politici. In Europa, tuttavia, i “ponti” che potenzialmente potrebbero portarci fuori dalle nostre profonde contraddizioni strutturali sono stati deliberatamente distrutti in nome del cordon sanitaire, progettato per impedire l’emergere di qualsiasi pensiero politico non “centrista”.

Se le proteste non hanno alcun effetto nel cambiare lo status quo e le elezioni rimangono una contesa tra i partiti Tweedle Dee e Dum dell’ordine esistente, i giovani concluderanno che “nessuno verrà a salvarci” e potrebbero giungere alla conclusione, nella loro disperazione, che il futuro può essere deciso solo nelle strade.

Who was this nonpareil hustler? That is the question that challenges our understanding of human behavior, says Michael Brenner.

The Epstein affair is the greatest scandal of modern times.

In its dimension, in the scope of participants representing a cross-section of elites here and abroad, in the intersection of multiple criminal and crassly unethical activities: sex trafficking and rape of minors, blackmail, financial duplicity, espionage, treason, abuse of their powers by public agencies and private institutions, establishment coverups that span decades, perjury – among others.

There is not a sinful action missing from its multifaceted violation of law and human morality.

These features of the scandal make it unique and distinctly “post-modern.” It could not have occurred in past historical periods.

For there did not exist the transcendence of class and vocational differences, the looseness of transactions among a wide mix of elites (including two U.S. presidents, prime ministers of Israel and Norway and a prince of the English royal family), the globalization of contacts and communication among the denizens of the celebrity world, the nihilistic culture that suppresses all manner of behavioral restraint and inhibition.

Those were necessary/permissive elements. The sufficient factor was the willful, ruthless of individuals who seized the opportunity to spin an intricate web of criminality, malevolence, maliciousness and mendacity.

How to characterize this odd beast? It is not a secret society, or a cult, or a camarilla of a power-seeking clique, or an organized mafia, a fraternity, or any other type of recognizable entity. What we see is the interlacing of elite networks with Epstein at the hub.

It’s the world of power and celebrity whose members are aware of each other, but whose connective tissue is of varying strength and extent.

They share one critical trait: each already commands enough respect and/or influence that the objective rarely was to achieve that status; rather, it was to reap  the benefits of their status whether it be an enlargement of existing privileges – financial, access to the most influential and celebrated power-brokers, fantasy sex, or the pleasure of mixing with other elites in salubrious settings.

It served no cause. It was ecumenical – entry observed no ascriptive or social requirement. In this sense, diverse egalitarian and inclusive.

These elites accepted Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell as reputable members of high society worthy of status by virtue of their money, her pedigree, his conman’s charm and the lure of erotic adventure; some partaking of his “hospitality” with the self-justification that everyone does it/they are consenting/we the elite are above conventional morality and above the law; making the “realpolitik” judgment that intelligence agencies’ exploiting of criminal activity for their own higher ends is legitimately in the national interest.

Intelligence Connection

Epstein himself played the key role. He had a brilliant talent for manipulating this world of huge egos, gluttony, greed and amorality. However, he was no evil genius. His personality was not mesmerizing, his intelligence unremarkable.

So, how was the network conceived, planned, and able to generate tens of millions in its start-up phase?

Here, we enter the murky waters of political connection. There is good reason to believe that these crucial ingredients were provided by Mossad [Former Israeli Military Intelligence Directorate (MID) officer Ari Ben-Menashe tells CN that Epstein worked for the MID, not the Mossad.]

Epstein’s partner in crime, Ghislaine Maxwell, was the daughter of Robert Maxwell – the prominent London news mogul who was a fixture at the highest levels of the British establishment.  It was well-known that he headed a loose network of Zionists and Israel sympathizers who pooled multiple forms of intelligence for the Israelis.

After his untimely, mystifying death by drowning off his yacht, he was memorialized at a Jerusalem service attended by two former Mossad directors and a former prime minister – Shimon Peres.

It is entirely reasonable to think that the Epstein enterprise received inspiration and early financial support from those same sources as represented by his soul mate Ghislaine. The connection doubtless continued throughout – likely, providing political cover and helpful oversight.

Epstein rendered a range of service to the Israeli government: as go-between in deals with some small African states, expediting various financial transactions of dubious legality and hosting meetings between Israeli officials and targeted members of the global elite.

Former Prime Minister Ehud Barak [and former MID chief] was an especially close associate who collaborated with Epstein on a number of ventures of both a personal and Israeli interest. Indeed, he spent weeks at a stretch in the notorious Manhattan mansion.

In addition, the Israelis (if not the F.B.I.) might have provided the equipment and the technical know-how for installing there, and on the island, hidden cameras for recording the proceedings. That material, in F.B.I. hands before and after 2006, had enormous blackmail potential which could be used to extract ransoms or as leverage by state agencies (Israeli or American) on persons of interest.

All that evidence has disappeared into the maw of the all-time coverup of the all-time scandal in London and Washington and Jerusalem.

For it is also certain that American authorities were conversant with the scheme and that they drew their own benefits from it. The exceptional treatment that Epstein received at the time of his 2006 conviction on orders from Washington, according to the Florida prosecutor, supports that contention.

Moreover, let’s bear in mind that all the documents recently exposed, albeit with large deletions, along with the notorious “‘black book,” have been in the hands of the F.B.I. for eight years at least.

Yet, authorities have taken no action to investigate and to indict – other than the belated conviction of Ghislaine.  She has been relocated to a salubrious country club facility after a secret meeting with Trump’s personal lawyer – her denial of Trump’s palship with Epstein over 15 years doubtless the price for those privileges.

Even now, the DOJ has stated that further legal actions are unlikely – even while justifying the total deletion of victims’ testimony from the massive document drop on the grounds that it could compromise future criminal proceedings.

Who Is Epstein?

Who was Jeffrey Epstein – this nonpareil hustler? That is the puzzling question that challenges our understanding of human behavior.

A non-descript, secondary school teacher who becomes the ringmaster of a global spectacular of money, sex and power featuring the high and mighty from every sphere of endeavor, from every corner of the celebrity world.

This outwardly ordinary man produced the extraordinary.

Since there was nothing truly special about Epstein, other than his mastery of the conman’s art and manipulator supreme of post-modern society’s peculiar ways, a post-hoc psychological analysis would have produced only limited results in terms of comprehending the phenomenon that he embodied.

We can say with confidence that he was not a “monster” or some other sort of fiend. His conventional interactions with persons within or outside his circle appear quite normal. His language was uniformly casually colloquial – distinctive only in its sloppy spelling.

There is no indication that he was mentally impaired; he would pass a psychiatric examination by any standard measure. This makes his conduct all the more perplexing: his total lack of a moral sense, his living without an evident superego.

The same holds for his accomplices, his enablers, his collaborative friendships with the many persons of fame and consequence who valued his company whether or not they participated in the sexual bacchanalias.

Did he or they know right from wrong? – that’s the question posed in determining the sanity of somebody who committed extreme criminal acts. In one sense, they obviously did.

Surely, they could cite the Ten Commandments or pastoral sermons punctuated by specific examples. They could recite acts that they never would commit or even contemplate. Have they suffered feelings of guilt or shame or contrition?

No – zero signs of that. Only a very few were psychotic – the deranged Donald Trump being the outstanding exception. Still, they conducted their lives without a moral gyroscope – or, perhaps, one that was programmed by some means or other to operate only selectively.

Ordinary People’s Capacity to Commit Horrors

So, we have to look elsewhere for clues as to the sources of their behavior: the nihilistic cultural/social setting infused with narcissism. Before shifting our attention in that direction, let us revisit Hannah Arendt’s classic work Eichmann in Jerusalem: A Report on the Banality of Evil.

Evil was very much on people’s minds in the post-war era when the horrors of Nazism were still living memory. The capture and trial of Adolf Eichmann in 1961 riveted the world’s attention as nothing had since the Nazi chieftains had been brought to the bar at Nuremburg.

The seeming incongruity between the monstrosity of the crimes and the tepid nature of the man in the dock was arresting. Eichmann was not a madman like Hitler; nor even the arrogant bully like Goering and his lot. He was “normal” in clinical psychological terms.

Arendt did not aim to explain Eichmann’s blandness per se. It was her forcefully argued contention that ordinary people can commit enormous horrors that created a furor – a blazing fire of argument and recrimination whose embers burned for decades.

Arendt did err in slighting the emotional difference between the actual commission of an atrocity and the process of deciding upon and administering a program of atrocity. The temperament to do the latter, as Eichmann did, need not be as exceptional as that required to perform the act.

Still, the portrayal of Eichmann missed the mark insofar as his behavior was not at all that of a robotic clerk. An educated, intelligent man, Eichmann was a passionate believer in the Nazi creed and fully understood its implications. Arendt asserted that Eichmann was in thrall to an ideology that suppressed all humane norms of conduct.

But he was not passive in the transformative process. For, in his case, it was not just a question of complying with the dictates of the totalitarian regime since he had volunteered for the job he did and exhibited initiative in carrying it out.

Eichmann should be condemned not because he was intrinsically evil or willfully acted atrociously – according to Arendt. Rather, his main culpability lay in the failure to use his rational intelligence to recognize the implications of binding himself to a diabolical ideology.

For Arendt, only the distinctive human faculty to think rationally can remind us of human dignity and to break the servile logic that leads us to behave abominably. Hence, adherence to a depraved ideology suggests that Eichmann the rational human is only indirectly accountable for the crimes with which he is associated.

Arendt assumed that humans are inherently “animals” who by natural instinct will act rapaciously unless guided by high-grade rationality whether acquired through socialization as embodied in an enlightened creed or achieved through individual reflection.

This conception of our nature is false. Look at other mammals; they have no sadistic streak. Only homo sapiens are capable of committing atrocities. Moreover, it is in our nature to bond with and to protect members of our family, our tribe and even our species as much as it is to compete ruthlessly.

All primates exhibit this propensity. An ethic of universal humanism as found in the traditions of all great civilizations would not have developed, been formalized and achieved a measure of success if it had run counter to the very essence of our being.

Martin Heidegger – Arendt’s intellectual guide, muse and lover – was a proclaimed Nazi supporter who publicly displayed his allegiance – to the extreme of wearing a brown shirt while lecturing and betraying long-time colleagues. He never admitted moral error or made apologies.

Belatedly, he did offer lame “explanations” that feebly rationalized his behavior. They were accompanied by outright lies. In this, he can be viewed as a precursor of today’s public persons who never do any wrong that cannot be excused or sloughed off.

His philosophy, to the extent that its prolix tangle of ideas are decipherable, also was a harbinger in pointing to the fads of deconstruction, phenomenology, etc. They, in turn, have provided the intellectual cover for the post-modern world’s shallow but not innocuous nihilism that justifies and encourages garden variety egoists to indulge their impulses while eroding any sense of obligation or responsibility. For Heidegger, as for many 20th century philosophers, the ultimate reality is ideational – not natural, or human. The thinker par excellence chose a course that made him an accessory to mass murder.

One thing we do know, the ripples of the tradition he represented – as much as the moral consequences of his immoral descent – outlived him. Heidegger foreshadowed the public performances of the present crop of leaders – as well as lesser lights.

This is the democratization – and banalization – of the obermensch. Being liberated means never having to say “I’m sorry.”

Public expressions of remorse when sins are exposed is not a prelude to acts of contrition; instead, it conveys a sense of regret that they allowed themselves to get into such a mess.

The implications of this analysis for understanding Epstein and his enterprise are these:

• Ideology was non-existent in the Epstein universe. So, too, was religious passion or patriotic fervor.
• It is true that several of the main protagonists were unqualified devotees of the Zionist cause who viewed his active collaboration with the Israelis in a favorable light. That, in itself, does not mean that it was central to the dynamics of the network.
• In every other respect it was value-free. They were the product of a society that promotes the principle that  individuals have a right to set their own course and implicitly to decide subjectively what is right and wrong, acceptable or unacceptable.
• High social standing – a compound of money, power and status – heighten the (usually) unstated conviction that I am answerable only to myself, whatever the practical dictates of maintaining the outer appearance of conforming to conventional norms.
• The consequences are an ingrained sense of entitlement, an imperviousness to any idea of accountability and a permission slip for brazen behavior.
• The present culture of permissiveness weakens fear of consequences from baneful behavior.  The less one fears chastisement and retribution, the less inhibited and the more self-indulgent one is.
• The Epstein associates typically don’t ponder whether something they do is ethical or not – that’s simply not a consideration. They are moved by want and desire.
• Whatever moral perspective they possess is attenuated. They are capable of moralizing about political matters at home or abroad even while engaging in criminal acts that cause victims severe harm.
• Or, more commonly, they can hobnob with and exchange favors with a man they know is the impresario of that vile depraved extravaganza.
• Noam Chomsky is the personification of that unseemly, bizarre tolerance for cognitive dissonance (or, perhaps more precisely, emotional dissonance). Deepak Chopra is another example. Others who demonstrably are morally mute are inter alia: Larry Summers, Harvard Dean Henry Rosovsky, Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Richard Branson, the Clintons and a host of luminaries from the worlds of business, politics, and academia.
• There is an acute lack of empathy with the victims. By some psychological avoidance mechanism, they are objectified, their identity and their suffering disregarded as they carry on their friendship, collaboration, and scheming with Epstein.
• The conduct of the Epstein crowd conforms to the recrudescence in contemporary Western societies of a disposition to devalue innocent victims of one’s actions. Witness Palestine.
• Most striking about this perverse mentality, it is not just the casual tolerance for violations of laws and every social norm of moral decency. Rather, it is the suppression/sublimation of the human’s inborn instinct to protect others – especially the innocents – except in rare instances of an expedient reason to subordinate that innate empathy to some compelling survival need.

The Epstein affair, a sordid and criminal saga that encompasses 20 years of illicit conduct, epitomizes our contemporary that is the expression and perpetuator of nihilism. Those who acquire the status of celebrity, broadly defined, in the public eye and in their self-regard, form a privileged caste.

That grants them license to do pretty much whatever they wish. No distinction is made between fame and infamy.

In that category are the persons who participated in Epstein’s heinous crimes, embraced the man and/or gave Jeffrey Epstein legal cover amounting to immunity from condemnation or punishment.

They all are the spawn of a deformed society – miscreants without honor in a welcoming land.

Il Dipartimento di Giustizia ha pubblicato venerdì scorso oltre tre milioni di documenti relativi al finanziere Jeffrey Epstein, più di un mese dopo la scadenza prevista per la divulgazione ai sensi dell’Epstein Files Transparency Act, firmato dal presidente Trump il 19 novembre 2025.

Questi documenti si riferiscono a testimonianze, affidavit, e-mail, registri di volo, accordi sottobanco che coinvolgono in attività spesso criminali figure di altissimo livello della politica, della finanza, dell’economia, dello spettacolo e della scienza dell’interno mondo occidentale. Da Bill Clinton a Ehud Barak, dal principe Andrea a Peter Thiel, da Elon Musk a Mark Zuckerberg, da Bill Gates a Noam Chomsky, da Harvey Weinstein a Leon Black. Anche Donald Trump compare con una certa ricorrenza.

Il procuratore generale aggiunto Todd Blanche ha specificato che il provvedimento di divulgazione non è stato applicato alle immagini che mostravano “morte, abusi fisici o ferite”. Segno che all’interno degli appartamenti di Epstein si portavano avanti con sistematicità atti di violenza che andavano oltre l’abuso sessuale a danno di minori.

Il frammentario ma densissimo mosaico che combina una serie interminabile di atti processuali delinea i contorni di un sistema di potere ben strutturato fondato sul ricatto, i cui artefici vanno con ogni probabilità ricercati anche al di fuori dei confini statunitensi.

Per anni, influenza politica schiacciante e disponibilità economiche pressoché illimitate dei personaggi addentro al “sistema Epstein” hanno ostacolato il lavoro di indagine degli inquirenti. Con il risultato che ogni nuova pubblicazione riaccende interrogativi su chi sapeva ma ha taciuto, o su chi avrebbe dovuto intervenire e non l’ha fatto. Nonché sulle modalità assunte dall’intervento degli inquirenti.

Piuttosto eloquente sul punto risulta il filone d’inchiesta riguardante le denunce presentate alle autorità competenti da Maria Farmer, artista che lavorava per Epstein negli anni ‘90 la cui sorella Annie era stata abusata sia da Epstein che dalla sua compagna Ghislane Maxwell. La Farmer aveva riferito all’Fbi che Epstein aveva sottratto fotografie raffiguranti le due sorelle senza veli e organizzava molto spesso feste in piscina a cui partecipavano ragazzine in età giovanissima, ma le sue dichiarazioni non avevano prodotto alcun risultato.

«Dov’è il resto del fascicolo dell’Fbi di Maria Farmer? Dove sono i registri delle denunce che così tante altre donne hanno presentato all’Fbi? In che modo l’Fbi ha indagato su quelle denunce? E perché il Dipartimento di Giustizia nasconde i nomi dei colpevoli mentre espone quelli delle vittime?», hanno domandato gli avvocati della Farmer.

Arick Fudali, rappresentante legale di undici vittime di Epstein, ha qualificato il rilascio degli oltre tre milioni di documenti come «una tempesta perfetta di incompetenza e copertura attiva» da parte dell’amministrazione Trump. «È davvero sconcertante, perché stanno trattenendo documenti che non dovrebbero trattenere. Allo stesso tempo, stanno mostrando documenti che non dovrebbero mostrare perché contengono i nomi non coperti da omissis delle vittime sopravvissute».

Nello specifico, attesta un’analisi realizzata dal «Wall Street Journal», è i nomi completi di 43 delle 47 vittime esaminate non erano stati oscurati nei documenti. Molte di loro non avevano mai reso pubblica la propria identità o erano minorenni al momento degli abusi. Inizialmente, i nomi completi, con tanto di dettagli personali utili a risalire ai rispettivi indirizzi di casa, erano identificabili nel sito del Dipartimento di Giustizia attraverso il semplice ricorso alla  funzione di ricerca per parole chiave.

La desecretazione attuata dal Dipartimento di Giustizia segue quindi una logica intimidatoria, perché rivela apertamente l’identità di quanti hanno la possibilità, con le loro testimonianze, di inchiodare i rispettivi “carnefici”.

È questo il senso delle aspre critiche rivolte verso la metà del dicembre scorso dai rappresentanti repubblicani Ro Khanna e Thomas Massie, che in qualità di co-promotori dell’Epstein Files Transparency Act ne avevano ripetutamente denunciato la violazione da parte delle autorità preposte. Non solo per quanto concerne il mancato rispetto dei limiti temporali, ma anche e soprattutto in materia di tutela delle vittime. Khanna, in particolare, aveva trascinato apertamente sul banco degli imputati l’ufficio della procuratrice generale Pam Bondi, accusandolo di tenere deliberatamente nascosti milioni di documenti.

La presa di posizione di Khanna rispecchia le opinioni di parte importante della popolazione. Un sondaggio condotto dalla «Cnn» attestava che due terzi dei cittadini statunitensi riteneva che il governo federale stesse intenzionalmente nascondendo alcune informazioni cruciali sul caso Epstein, mentre solo il 16% credeva che il governo stesse impegnandosi a fondo per divulgare quante più informazioni possibili. Quasi 9 democratici su 10 e il 72% degli indipendenti sostenevano che il governo stesse deliberatamente occultando informazioni, così come il 42% dei repubblicani.

«Sembra che, in alcuni casi, [i funzionari del Dipartimento di Giustizia, nda] passino più tempo a proteggere le persone che hanno commesso questi crimini che i sopravvissuti», ha dichiarato Khanna riguardo all’ultima tranche di documenti pubblicati.

Anche se parziali, i documenti finora desecretati risultano ampiamente sufficienti a delineare un quadro impietoso circa “usi e costumi” dell’alta società non solo statunitense.

Di fatto, osserva l’analista Lucas Leiroz, «quanto è stato scoperto attesta pratiche sistematiche, organizzate e ritualizzate […]. Reti di questo tipo esistono solo quando sono supportate da una profonda protezione istituzionale. Non esiste pedofilia rituale, né tratta di esseri umani su scala transnazionale, né produzione sistematica di materiale estremo, senza copertura politica, polizesca, giudiziaria e mediatica. Questa è la logica del potere».

«Le società occidentali si trovano ora ad affrontare un dilemma che non può essere risolto attraverso elezioni, commissioni parlamentari o discorsi. Come si può continuare ad accettare l’autorità di istituzioni che hanno protetto questo livello di orrore? Come si può mantenere il rispetto per le leggi applicate selettivamente da persone che vivono al di sopra di esse?», scrive Leiroz.

¿Cómo hablar de «valores» en este contexto?

En Davos, Mark Carney dejó claro que el «orden de las reglas» no era más que una fachada ostentosa, al estilo Potemkin, que todos sabían que era falsa, pero que se mantenía de todos modos.

¿Por qué? Simplemente porque el engaño era útil. La «urgencia» era la necesidad de ocultar el colapso del sistema en un nihilismo radical y antivalores. Ocultar la realidad de que los círculos de la élite —en torno a Epstein— operaban más allá de los límites morales, legales o humanos, para decidir entre la paz y la guerra, basándose en sus mezquinos apetitos.

Las élites habían comprendido que, una vez que la total amoralidad de los gobernantes fuera conocida por el hoi polloi [la plebe], Occidente perdería la arquitectura de las historias morales que anclan precisamente una vida ordenada.

Si el establishment es conocido por rehuir la moralidad, ¿por qué debería comportarse de otra manera el resto de la gente? El cinismo se extendería como una cascada. ¿Qué mantendría entonces unida a una nación?

Bueno, muy probablemente solo el totalitarismo.

La «caída» posmoderna en el nihilismo finalmente se estrelló en su inevitable «callejón sin salida» (como predijo Nietzsche en 1888).

El paradigma «ilustrado» se ha convertido finalmente en su contrario: un mundo sin valores, sin sentido y sin propósito (más allá del enriquecimiento personal codicioso). Esto también implica el fin del concepto mismo de Verdad que ha estado en el centro de la civilización occidental desde Platón.

El colapso también pone de relieve los fracasos de la razón mecánica occidental:

Este tipo de razonamiento a priori, en círculo cerrado, ha tenido un efecto mucho mayor en la cultura occidental de lo que podríamos imaginar… Ha llevado a la imposición de reglas que se consideran irrefutables, no porque hayan sido reveladas, sino porque han sido científicamente probadas, y por lo tanto no hay recurso contra ellas, observa Aurelien.

El pensamiento mecanicista, basado en una visión pseudocientífica y determinista del mundo, ha dado lugar a contradicciones económicas que han impedido a los economistas occidentales ver lo que tenían delante de sus narices: un sistema económico hiperfinanciarizado, al servicio exclusivo de los oligarcas y los iniciados.

Ningún fracaso de sus modelos económicos, por grave que fuera,

ha debilitado el férreo control de los economistas matemáticos sobre las políticas gubernamentales. El problema es que la ciencia, en ese modo binario de causa-efecto, no ha sido capaz de hacer frente ni al caos ni a la complejidad de la vida (Aurelien).

Otras teorías —distintas de la física newtoniana—, como la teoría cuántica o la del caos, han quedado en gran medida excluidas de su forma de pensar.

El significado de «Davos» (seguido de las revelaciones sobre Epstein) es que el Humpty-Dumpty de la confianza se ha caído del muro y ya no se puede reconstruir.

Lo que también es evidente es que los círculos de Epstein no estaban compuestos solo por individuos perversos; «Lo que se ha descubierto apunta a prácticas sistemáticas, organizadas y ritualizadas». Y esto lo cambia todo, como señala el comentarista Lucas Leiroz:

Las redes de este tipo solo existen cuando cuentan con un profundo respaldo institucional. No existe la pedofilia ritual, ni la trata de seres humanos a escala transnacional, ni la producción sistemática de material extremo, sin la cobertura política, policial, judicial y mediática. Esta es la lógica del poder.

Epstein emerge de la miríada de correos electrónicos como un pedófilo y, sin duda, como un inmoral, pero también como un personaje extremadamente inteligente y un serio protagonista geopolítico, cuyas intuiciones políticas eran apreciadas por personalidades de alto nivel en todo el mundo.

Era un maestro de la geopolítica, como describió Michael Wolff (ya en 2018, así como en una correspondencia por correo electrónico publicada recientemente) incluso en la guerra entre el poder judío y los gentiles.

Esto sugiere que Epstein era menos un instrumento de los servicios secretos que un «igual» de ellos. [Los jóvenes estadounidenses] se dan cuenta de que sus instituciones les están abandonando y que tendrán que [salvarse]… hay decenas de miles de personas en Minneapolis que dicen que ya no se trata de cuestiones constitucionales, ni del Estado de derecho o la democracia, lo cual puede parecer una buena idea, pero es algo lejano para la persona media sentada a la mesa de su cocina.

La gente dice que el Tribunal Supremo no les protegerá; que el Congreso no les protegerá; que el presidente es el enemigo; que está desplegando su ejército en sus ciudades. Los únicos que pueden protegerles son ustedes mismos.

«Son los «millonarios estúpidos»» [referencia al viejo amorfismo: «Es la economía, estúpido»].

Rothkopf explica:

Lo que intento destacar es que, si no se dan cuenta de que la igualdad y la impunidad de las élites son cuestiones fundamentales para todos, que la gente piensa que el sistema está amañado y no funciona para ellos… ya no creen que el sueño americano sea real y que el control del país ha sido robado por un puñado de superricos, que no pagan impuestos y se hacen cada vez más ricos, mientras que el resto de nosotros nos quedamos cada vez más atrás, [entonces no pueden entender la desesperación actual entre los menores de 35 años].

Rothkopf sostiene que el episodio de Davos/Epstein marca la fractura entre el pueblo y las clases dominantes.

Las sociedades occidentales se enfrentan ahora a un dilema que no puede resolverse mediante elecciones, comisiones parlamentarias o discursos. ¿Cómo se puede seguir aceptando la autoridad de instituciones que han protegido este nivel de horror? ¿Cómo se puede mantener el respeto por las leyes aplicadas selectivamente por personas que viven por encima de ellas?, afirma Leiroz.

Sin embargo, la pérdida de respeto no resuelve el problema. Ningún partido político convencional tiene una respuesta al fracaso de la economía «de mesa»: la falta de puestos de trabajo razonablemente bien remunerados, el acceso a los servicios sanitarios, la educación y la vivienda cara.

Ningún partido tradicional puede dar una respuesta creíble a estas cuestiones existenciales porque, durante décadas, la economía ha estado precisamente «amañada», es decir, reorientada estructuralmente hacia una economía financiarizada basada en la deuda, en detrimento de la economía real.

Esto requeriría que la actual estructura de mercado liberal anglosajona fuera completamente erradicada y sustituida por otra. Pero se necesitaría una década de reformas, y los oligarcas se opondrían abiertamente.

Lo ideal sería que surgieran nuevos partidos políticos. Sin embargo, en Europa, los «puentes» que podrían ayudarnos a salir de nuestras profundas contradicciones estructurales han sido deliberadamente destruidos en nombre del cordón sanitario diseñado para impedir el surgimiento de cualquier pensamiento político que no sea «centrista».

William Joseph Burns è considerato fra le figure più esperte della politica estera statunitense, con oltre tre decenni di servizio al Dipartimento di Stato. Nel corso della sua carriera è stato ambasciatore in Giordania, sottosegretario per gli Affari politici e protagonista dei canali segreti con l’Iran che hanno preparato l’accordo nucleare, accumulando una reputazione di negoziatore riservato, efficace e ben inserito nei “labirinti” della burocrazia di Washington. Una carriera di tutto rispetto, non c’è che dire, un vero uomo di Stato.

Nel 2014, era vice‑segretario di Stato, sostanzialmente il numero due del Dipartimento, cioè un funzionario con accesso diretto ai dossier più sensibili su Russia, Medio Oriente, Iran e crisi ucraine. Dal 2021, infine, Burns guida la CIA, ruolo che lo colloca al vertice dell’apparato di intelligence di un Paese già scosso dalle domande rimaste aperte sulla gestione del “caso Epstein”. Proprio nel 2014 cominciano i suoi contatti con Epstein, e capite che ogni dettaglio sui suoi contatti pregressi con il finanziere non è percepito come una semplice curiosità mondana, ma come un tassello potenzialmente significativo nel mosaico di rapporti fra élite politiche, servizi segreti e un personaggio al centro di una rete transnazionale di abuso sessuale, ricatto e flussi opachi di denaro.

I documenti interni di Epstein, in particolare i calendari e le email ricostruiti da inchieste giornalistiche, indicano che nel 2014 furono programmati almeno tre incontri tra lui e William Burns. Le ricostruzioni convergono su una sequenza: un primo appuntamento a Washington, seguito da almeno una visita di Burns nella townhouse di Epstein a Manhattan, con la possibilità di un ulteriore incontro nella stessa città. Si tratta di appuntamenti collocati tra il 2013 e il 2017 nei documenti di Epstein, cioè nella fase in cui l’ex gestore di fondi aveva già scontato una condanna per reati sessuali in Florida e risultava formalmente registrato come sex offender.

Una portavoce della CIA, interrogata dopo le rivelazioni, ha precisato che Burns, all’epoca vice‑segretario di Stato, sarebbe stato presentato a Epstein come un esperto del settore finanziario in grado di offrire consigli generali sulla transizione verso il settore privato. Secondo questa versione, Burns non avrebbe avuto consapevolezza dettagliata del passato criminale di Epstein, né avrebbe intrattenuto con lui una relazione prolungata oltre quei pochi incontri, descritti come contatti limitati e privi di ulteriori sviluppi. La stessa portavoce ha sottolineato che “non avevano una relazione” e che il direttore non ricorda contatti successivi, compresi eventuali passaggi in auto offerti da Epstein.

Alcuni commentatori specializzati in contro‑intelligence hanno però definito “sconcertante” che un funzionario così esperto accettasse incontri con un sex offender di alto profilo, sottolineando che anche un minimo controllo reputazionale avrebbe dovuto mettere in guardia da un simile contatto. In questa prospettiva critica, le opzioni sono due: o Burns sapeva chi fosse Epstein e ha sottovalutato la portata del problema, o non si è posto domande sufficienti, mostrando – secondo questi analisti – una leggerezza incompatibile con gli standard di sicurezza richiesti a chi guida un’agenzia come la CIA.

L’élite e l’Intelligence

È importante chiarire cosa rappresentano e cosa non rappresentano i documenti che hanno riportato alla luce il nome di Burns. I calendari privati di Epstein, le sue agende e le email di staff sono una fonte incompleta, che registra appuntamenti pianificati, proposte di incontri, inviti a eventi e viaggi, ma non sempre restituisce la certezza che ogni voce si sia tradotta in un incontro effettivo. Nel caso di Burns, tuttavia, più fonti concordano sul fatto che almeno uno o due di questi appuntamenti abbiano avuto luogo, qualcosa che anche la portavoce della CIA non ha smentito, pur ridimensionandone la portata.

Questi calendari sono diversi dai registri di volo del jet privato di Epstein o dal cosiddetto black book, che elencava contatti, numeri di telefono e indirizzi, e che hanno alimentato negli anni liste più o meno responsabili di nomi associati al finanziere. Il nodo politico‑mediatico non riguarda solo il “che cosa” è accaduto – alcuni incontri nel 2014 – ma il “come” e il “perché”. Da un lato, la versione ufficiale insiste sull’assenza di una relazione strutturata: Burns sarebbe stato uno dei tanti funzionari in uscita dal governo che, al termine di una lunga carriera, sondano possibili approdi nel settore privato, rivolgendosi anche a figure presentate come esperti di finanza e networking. Dall’altro, un sex offender di alto profilo come Epstein non era un nome oscuro nel 2014, e che il semplice fatto di varcare la soglia della sua townhouse avrebbe dovuto accendere qualche allarme etico e di sicurezza.  Il caso Burns illustra un problema sistemico di “cecità volontaria” delle élite, più inclini a valorizzare l’accesso a capitali e contatti che a considerare i rischi di frequentare figure tossiche. La Casa Bianca ha scelto la linea del silenzio, rifiutando di commentare direttamente le rivelazioni sugli incontri del 2014, una scelta che alimenta la percezione di un dossier politicamente delicato ma non ancora esploso sul piano istituzionale.

Ma c’è un dettaglio che a molti rischia di sfuggire: Burns è stato uno dei pilastri silenziosi della politica estera di Barack Obama.

La traiettoria dei due si incrocia nel decennio in cui Obama, senatore prima e presidente poi, cerca di imprimere una svolta alla politica estera americana dopo gli anni di George W. Bush. Burns arriva a quel passaggio con un curriculum già segnato da dossier esplosivi: ambasciatore in Giordania, poi a Mosca, quindi sottosegretario per gli Affari politici, cioè il terzo incarico più alto del Dipartimento di Stato. Obama lo conosce di persona nel 2005, quando visita l’ambasciata USA a Mosca e incontra l’allora ambasciatore Burns, rimanendo colpito, per sua stessa ammissione, dalla combinazione di prudenza, lucidità analitica e conoscenza dei dossier russi.

Quando Obama entra alla Casa Bianca nel 2009, non è un caso che si circondi anche di figure “ereditate” dall’apparato, considerate affidabili da entrambe le parti politiche: Burns è uno di questi tecnocrati del potere, sopravvissuto a cinque amministrazioni, da Reagan a Obama. In quei primi anni, l’allora presidente si trova a gestire il reset con Mosca, la guerra in Afghanistan, i residui dell’Iraq e le prime avvisaglie della crisi iraniana sul nucleare; in questo scenario, Burns si impone progressivamente come uno dei pochi funzionari di cui Obama si fida al punto da affidargli missioni riservate, fuori dai canali ufficiali.

Il segno forse più evidente del rapporto fra i due è nella dichiarazione con cui, nell’aprile 2014, Obama commenta il ritiro di Burns dal Dipartimento di Stato. In quel testo, il presidente racconta di averlo conosciuto a Mosca, di averlo ammirato da subito per la sua precisione, e aggiunge una frase rivelatrice: “Da quando ho assunto l’incarico, mi sono affidato a lui per consigli franchi e missioni diplomatiche sensibili”. Obama insiste sul fatto che, in più occasioni, gli ha chiesto di rinviare il pensionamento – segno di una dipendenza politica reale dalla sua capacità di gestire dossier ad alta complessità – arrivando a dire che il Paese è “più forte” grazie al servizio di Burns.

Più che una retorica di circostanza, le cronache diplomatiche confermano questa centralità: profile biografici e analisi di think tank lo definiscono “consummate diplomat”, un professionista che gode di stima bipartisan, capace di discutere con Netanyahu, Lavrov, i negoziatori iraniani o i monarchi del Golfo con la stessa calma. In questo quadro, la “amicizia” con Obama assume la forma di una solidarietà fra riformatori prudenti: un presidente che vuole smarcarsi dalla logica degli interventi militari e un diplomatico che, da anni, sostiene la necessità di privilegiare il canale negoziale rispetto alla forza.

Una carriera senza intoppi

Il capitolo che più di ogni altro cementa il rapporto politico fra Burns e Obama è quello dei negoziati sul nucleare iraniano. A partire dal 2013, un piccolo gruppo di funzionari – guidato proprio da Burns e da Jake Sullivan – viene incaricato di gestire una serie di incontri segreti a Muscat, in Oman, con rappresentanti iraniani. L’obiettivo, tanto ambizioso quanto controverso, è capire se esiste uno spazio per disinnescare la crisi nucleare senza un conflitto aperto, aprendo un corridoio parallelo rispetto al formato multilaterale ufficiale del P5+1.

Le cronache di quei mesi, ricostruite da Associated Press e altri media, parlano di almeno cinque riunioni segrete condotte da Burns e Sullivan, spesso con delegazioni ridotte, in cui si gettano le basi del successivo accordo ad interim e, infine, del JCPOA del 2015. Obama, in questa storia, è il decisore politico che sceglie di rischiare un capitale enorme di credibilità interna ed esterna pur di ottenere un risultato storico; Burns è l’uomo che traduce quel rischio in pratica diplomatica, gestendo al millimetro il linguaggio, le concessioni, le pressioni sugli alleati diffidenti, primi fra tutti Israele e Arabia Saudita.

Un dettaglio significativo riguarda proprio il rapporto triangolare Obama–Burns–Netanyahu: fonti di taglio analitico ricordano che il premier israeliano scopre l’esistenza del canale segreto solo nel 2013 direttamente da Obama, e che la gestione di questo equilibrio delicato – rassicurare Israele, tenere aperto il negoziato con Teheran – dipende in parte dalla capacità di Burns di reggere al fuoco incrociato. In alcuni commenti sulle memorie di Burns, emerge come l’ex diplomatico descriva Obama in termini sostanzialmente positivi sul fronte iraniano, riconoscendogli la volontà di evitare “avventure militari” e di investire sulla diplomazia in condizioni difficili.

Il file Iran non è l’unico che unisce il destino politico di Burns a quello di Obama. Come sottosegretario per gli Affari politici prima e vice‑segretario di Stato poi, Burns è coinvolto nei tentativi dell’amministrazione di gestire le Primavere arabe, la guerra in Siria, il dossier libico e, più in generale, la fatica di riallineare la posizione americana nel Mediterraneo allargato dopo l’Iraq. Le sue memorie e alcune analisi critiche sottolineano che, pur sostenendo la linea negoziale di Obama, Burns non è privo di dubbi: ad esempio, rimette sul tavolo, col senno di poi, l’idea che gli Stati Uniti avrebbero dovuto prendere una posizione più ferma contro il regime di Assad dopo l’uso di armi chimiche, per non lasciare un vuoto di credibilità.

Questo non incrina il rapporto con Obama, ma ne mostra la natura: non una fedeltà cieca, bensì un dialogo fra un presidente che tende alla cautela e un diplomatico che condivide quell’impostazione, pur segnalando i costi di alcune esitazioni. In sostanza, Burns rappresenta la versione più elaborata della dottrina Obama sul Medio Oriente: meno interventi diretti, più pressione multilaterale, più sanzioni e più canali paralleli di comunicazione, dai russi agli iraniani, dai monarchi del Golfo ai movimenti di opposizione.

Attorno a loro si muove una “rete Obama” di figure che, negli anni successivi, torneranno in ruoli chiave: Jake Sullivan passerà dalla vicepresidenza Biden alla Casa Bianca di Biden presidente; Wendy Sherman, che affianca Burns nei negoziati con l’Iran, diventerà vice‑segretario di Stato; altri diplomatici e consiglieri si ritroveranno nei consigli di amministrazione, nei think tank e nelle fondazioni che popolano il mondo dell’establishment liberal americano. Burns stesso, una volta lasciato il Dipartimento, guida la Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, uno dei più importanti think tank di politica estera, entrando stabilmente in quell’ecosistema di élite intellettuale e politica forgiata anche dall’esperienza obamiana.

Sebbene la nomina di Burns a direttore della CIA arrivi formalmente da Joe Biden nel 2021, molti commentatori vedono in quella scelta la prosecuzione di una “linea Obama” sulla sicurezza nazionale: mettere alla guida dell’intelligence un diplomatico, non un ex militare o un politico di partito, proseguendo l’idea che la forza degli Stati Uniti passi più dal tavolo dei negoziati che dal campo di battaglia. In questo senso, si può dire che il rapporto con Obama ha contribuito a definire non solo il profilo pubblico di Burns, ma anche la sua funzione simbolica all’interno dell’apparato di potere americano.

Quindi, ricapitolando: Burns, uomo chiave per il potere politico americano, un anello di congiunzione fra i Dem, la diplomazia mediorientale e l’intelligence, dal 2014 frequenta Epstein e poi diventa direttore della CIA. Chissà cosa si saranno detti nell’orecchio Burns e Obama, e ancora di più chissà cosa avranno fatto nella magica isola di Jeffrey.

The power structure which birthed the Epstein abuses is not going to do anything about the Epstein abuses. The only thing that might possibly change is that some people may become radicalized against that power structure.

I need you to understand that nothing is going to be done about anything in the Epstein files.

Nothing.

The people in the documents will suffer no consequences. The institutions responsible for the abuses you’ve learned about will not change anything about how they operate. Your government will change absolutely nothing about its policies and behavior.

Nothing will be done if you vote in the other political party. Nothing will be done if you vote in new politicians. Nothing will be done if you write letters to your senators and representatives. Nothing will be done if you hold protests outside government buildings.

No meaningful laws will be passed. No prosecutions of any meaningful consequence will occur.

Don’t believe me? Just watch and pay attention.

The power structure which birthed the Epstein abuses is not going to do anything about the Epstein abuses. The only thing that might possibly change is that some people may become radicalized against that power structure.

That’s the only real benefit that might come out of these Epstein releases the public has been demanding for years. That a few more eyes might get opened to how creepy and evil the people in charge of their society actually are.

How creepy and evil capitalism and the western empire are. How creepy and evil Israel and Zionism are. That the collective might become a bit more aware that we live in a dystopia which elevates the very worst among us to positions of leadership and control.

That’s it. That’s the only positive change that might come out of all this. Our rulers won’t do anything to help right the wrongs, but the people might become a bit more ready and willing to overthrow our rulers.

That’s the only way health and humanity is going to win this one. By waking up to reality one pair of eyelids at a time and realizing that the reason everything is fucked is because we live under a fucked up system which elevates fucked up people, and we’re not going to have a healthy world until we abolish the fucked up system that put the fucked up people in power.

The Epstein releases won’t change the abusiveness of the system. But they might nudge people toward dismantling that system.

After Epstein, nothing can continue as before: Neither the post war ‘never again’ values – reflecting sentiment at the end of bloody wars – and the widespread yearning for a ‘fairer’ society; nor the bipolar economics of extreme disparities in wealth; nor trust – after the exposed venality, rotted institutions and perversions that the Epstein files have shown to be endemic amongst certain of the western élites.

How to speak of ‘values’ against this background?

At Davos, Mark Carney made clear that the ‘rules order’ was but a tawdry Potemkin façade that was thoroughly known as false, yet the façade was maintained. Why? Simply because the deceit was useful. The ‘exigency’ was the need to hide the system’s collapse into radical, anti-values nihilism. To hide the reality that the élite circles – around Epstein – operated beyond moral, legal or human limitations, to decide between peace and war, on the basis of their base appetites.

The élites understood that once the complete amorality of the rulers was known by the hoi polloi, the West would lose the architecture of moral stories that precisely anchor an ordered life. If the Establishment is known to eschew morality, why should anyone else behave differently? The cynicism would cascade down. What then would hold a nation together?

Well, only totalitarianism, most likely.

The post-modern ‘fall’ into nihilism has crashed finally into its inevitable ‘dead end’ (as predicted by Nietzsche in 1888). The ‘Enlightenment’ paradigm has finally metamorphosed into its opposite: A world without values, meaning or purpose (beyond avaricious self-enrichment). This implies the end too, of the very concept of Truth that used to be at the heart of western civilisation, since Plato.

The collapse underlines, too, the failings of western mechanical Reason: “This kind of a priori, closed-circle reasoning has had a much greater effect on western culture than we might imagine … It led to the imposition of rules that are believed to be irrefutable, not because they are revealed, but because they have been scientifically proved, and there is thus no appeal against them”, Aurelien notes.

This mechanical way of thinking has played a large part in the third tier to the ‘Davos Rupture’ (after the intellectual demise and the collapse of trust in the leadership). Mechanical thinking based in a deterministic pseudo-scientific world view led to economic contradictions which prevented western economists from seeing what was under their nose: a hyper-financialised economic system placed entirely at the service of the oligarchs and insiders.

No failure of our economic modelling, however great, “has weakened the vice-like grip of the mathematical economists on the policies of governments. The problem has been that Science, in that binary cause-and-effect mode, could not cope with either the chaos or the complexity of life” (Aurelien). Other theories – other than Newtonian physics – such as quantum or chaos theories largely have been excluded from our mode of thinking.

The meaning to ‘Davos’ – followed by the Epstein revelations – is that the Humpty-Dumpty of Trust has fallen from the wall and cannot be put together again.

What is also apparent is that the Epstein circles were not just about twisted individuals; “What has been exposed points to systematic, organized, ritualized practices”. And that changes everything, as commentator Lucas Leiroz observes:

“Networks of this kind only exist when they are backed by deep institutional protection. There is no ritual paedophilia, no human trafficking on a transnational scale, no systematic production of extreme material – without political, police, judicial, and media cover. This is the logic of power”.

Epstein emerges from the myriad emails as a paedophile and utterly immoral certainly, but also as highly intelligent and a serious geo-political player, whose political insights were prized by high-level figures around the globe. He was a master-player behind geo-politics, as Michael Wolff described (as far back as 2018, as well as in recently released email correspondence) in the war between Jewish power and the Gentiles, too.

This suggests that Epstein was less a tool of Intelligence Services, but more their ‘peer’. No wonder leaders sought his company (and for grossly immoral reasons too, we cannot not ignore). And clearly the Deep (uniparty) State manoeuvred through him. And in the end, Epstein knew too much.

David Rothkopf, himself a former political affairs adviser in the U.S. Democratic camp, speculates on what Epstein means for America:

“[Young Americans] realise that their institutions are failing them, and they’re going to have to [save themselves] … you’ve got tens of thousand of people in Minneapolis, saying this is not any more about Constitutional issues, or the rule of law or democracy – which may sound good – but which is at a remove from the average person at the average kitchen table”.

“People are saying the Supreme Court is not going to protect us; Congress is not going to protect us; the President is the enemy; he is deploying his own army in our cities. The only people who can protect us – are: We ourselves”.

“It is ‘the billionaires stupid’” [a reference to the old amorphism: ‘It’s the economy, stupid’] Rothkopf explains:

“The point I’m trying to make is that – if you don’t realise that equality and élite impunity are central issues to everybody, that people think the system is rigged and is not working for them … don’t believe the American dream is real any more – and that the control of the country has been stolen by a handful of the super-rich people, who don’t get taxed and get wealthier and wealthier – whilst the rest of us fall further and further behind – [then you can’t understand today’s despair amongst the under 35s]”.

Rothkopf is saying that the Davos/Epstein episode marks the rupture between the people and the ruling strata.

“Western societies now face a dilemma that cannot be resolved through elections, parliamentary commissions, or speeches. How can one continue to accept the authority of institutions that shielded this level of horror? How can respect be maintained for laws applied selectively by people who live above them?”, Leiroz says.

Loss of respect however, does not go to the core of the impasse. No conventional political party has an answer to the failure of ‘kitchen-table’ economics – the lack of reasonably well-paid jobs, access to medical services, costly education and housing.

No mainstream party can provide a credible answer to these existential issues because, for decades, the economy has exactly been ‘rigged’ — structurally re-oriented towards a debt-based financialised economy, at the expense of the real economy.

It would require the present Anglo liberal market structure to be wholly up-rooted and replaced by another. That would require a decade of reforms – and the oligarchs would fight that outright.

Ideally, new political parties might emerge. In Europe, however, the ‘bridges’ that potentially could take us out from our deep structural contradictions have been deliberately destroyed in the name of the cordon sanitaire designed to prevent any non ‘centrist’ policy thinking from emerging.

If protest has no effect in changing the status quo, and elections remain between the Tweedle Dee and Dum parties of the existing order, the young will conclude that ‘no one will come to save us’ – and they may conclude in their despair that the future can only be decided on the streets.

Half a century after the public learned that boys at a Belfast group home were sexually assaulted by senior staff, a key question remains unanswered: was British intelligence implicated in the abuse conspiracy, and did Kincora serve as a ‘honeypot’ to entrap and blackmail powerful figures?

A vast trove of declassified files on Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual, political, and intelligence escapades released by the US Department of Justice has once again thrust disgraced former Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor into the spotlight. With British police reportedly reviewing Andrew’s past sexual activities and links to Epstein, questions are growing about whether Britain’s spy agencies were aware of Andrew’s alleged escapades with minors.

If the darkest rumors turn out to be true, it will not be the first time a British royal had been embroiled in a child rape conspiracy with spy agency involvement. Back in 1980, a scandal erupted when the Kincora Boys’ Home in occupied Ireland was exposed as a secret brothel run by powerful pedophiles. Chief among the alleged perpetrators was Lord Mountbatten — Andrew’s great-uncle.

From the very beginning, hints began to appear that MI5/MI6 knew of the child abuse taking place Kincora, and could have even been running the group home as part of a dastardly intelligence plot. With Britain’s domestic and foreign spies engaged in a savage dirty war in Ireland, and both services running operatives in Republican and Unionist paramilitaries, Kincora would have provided an ideal means of recruiting and compromising potential assets. Official investigations have strongly insinuated British intelligence chiefs had a close bond with many individuals who ran the Boys’ Home.

In May 2025, veteran BBC journalist Chris Moore published a forensic account of the case titled Kincora: Britain’s Shame. Featuring four and a half decades of firsthand research by the author, its groundbreaking contents have been met with general silence by British mainstream media.

In the book, Moore argues persuasively that the Boys’ Home was just one component of a more extensive child abuse network extending across British-occupied Ireland and beyond — in which London’s spying apparatus was not only aware, but likely complicit.

In 2023, Moore met personally with Kincora victim Arthur Smyth in Australia. Smyth’s stay at the Home was brief, but the horrors he endured there left him scarred forever.

“Having interviewed a number of Kincora survivors, I found Arthur’s story familiar. Sent to the Boys’ Home by a Belfast divorce court judge aged 11, he was continually preyed upon by the pedophiles who ran it, and intimidated into silence,” Moore told The Grayzone. “Arthur was also brutally abused repeatedly by a man he knew only as ‘Dickie’, who raped him while bending him over a desk.”

In August 1979, two years after Smyth escaped Kincora, he learned the true identity of ‘Dickie’ was none other than Louis Francis Albert Victor Nicholas Mountbatten, a member of the royal family and Queen Elizabeth II’s cousin. Mountbatten had just been murdered in an apparent IRA bombing attack on his fishing boat off the coast of Ireland. Though the British government appears to remain committed to concealing his crimes from the public, Mountbatten’s pedophilia was common knowledge among both British and US intelligence for decades.

As early as World War II, the FBI had identified Mountbatten as “a homosexual with a perversion for young boys.” A Bureau file detailing this was later identified by historian Andrew Lownie. After requesting other files the Bureau maintained on the royal, Lownie was informed by US authorities they had been destroyed.

Lownie says he was told by an FBI official that the files were only disposed of “after [he] asked for them” — indicating they were “clearly” shredded at the request of the British government.

Kincora conspiracy begins to unravel

Within months of Kincora’s opening in 1958, boys at the facility began coming forward to inform the adults around them that they were being routinely sexually abused. The Boys’ Home was repeatedly visited by police throughout the decades that followed in response to reports of rape and other mistreatment. Despite repeated investigations, time and time again, complaints were ultimately dismissed by the police.

Reports of sexual abuse spiked dramatically in 1971, when a prominent loyalist named William McGrath became the group home’s housefather, and was placed directly in charge of the boys’ day-to-to lives. Moore documented numerous harrowing accounts in which victims described being sadistically raped by McGrath to the point of internal bleeding, with the boys’ silence ensured by threats of violence.

Moore attributes police inaction to the “skillful manipulation” of Kincora’s director, Joe Mains, who successfully convinced officers that accusers were simply lying as revenge for perceived slights by the staff.

As an extremely well-networked figure in British-occupied Ireland, with deep links to prominent Unionist politicians and Protestant paramilitary groups, McGrath enjoyed virtual impunity. He also headed Tara, an armed Masonic loyalist faction covertly run by the British Army, which effectively functioned as an intelligence operation.

In conversations with colleagues, McGrath was known to boast about his work with British intelligence, and the regular trips to London which it entailed. A police source confirmed to Moore that MI6 had an interest in McGrath since the late 1950s, and that “everything McGrath did from this point on was known” to British intelligence. Small wonder campaigners firmly believe Kincora was exploited to compromise and control Unionists, who committed pedophilic offenses at the Home.

The horrifying abuse at Kincora finally surfaced in January 1980 when the Irish Times published an explosive report that triggered a police investigation, which was led by a veteran detective named George Caskey. According to Moore, it took Caskey just three days to decide that Kincora’s leadership were likely guilty.

Within weeks, Caskey’s team had identified dozens of victims of McGrath and others at Kincora, who each gave detailed statements about the abuse they suffered there. Based on their testimony, Mains, McGrath and fellow high-ranking staffer Raymond Semple were suspended from the group home, and arrested a month later. Curiously, Mains and Semple readily admitted their offenses to police, but McGrath aggressively protested his innocence. Resisting interrogation with such skill that investigating officers believed he had rehearsed for their questioning in advance, he made a number of bizarre, cryptic comments.

For one, McGrath declared he was the victim of political intrigue and the accusations against him were bogusly cooked up by the pro-British Ulster Volunteer Force paramilitary faction, among other people “out to destroy me.” He refused to elaborate on who they were, or why he believed he was being maliciously targeted in this manner. McGrath furthermore promised “other stories” and a “rebuttal to these allegations” would “come out in court,” but again declined to expand any further.

In December 1981, Mains, McGrath, Semple and three other individuals found to have abused young boys at two other state-run group homes in occupied Ireland finally stood trial. McGrath was the only defendant to plead not guilty. Present in court at the time, Moore recalls widespread anticipation McGrath’s testimony would “open a Pandora’s Box, laying bare the truth about Kincora and exposing an uncomfortable – some might say unholy – alliance between the British government and unionism, and perhaps even details of a secret MI5 operation.”

However, at the last minute, McGrath’s lawyer made a shock announcement – his client had changed his plea to guilty. McGrath’s volte face elicited a ripple of exasperated sighs across the courtroom, where over 30 Kincora victims had gathered, preparing to testify. Though all six men were convicted of sexual abuse of boys across three Belfast children’s homes, their relatively light sentences drew outrage. In the end, Mains was jailed for six years, while Semple received five years and McGrath, just four.

MI5 proposes creating ‘false files’ to sabotage investigations

For Moore, McGrath’s change of heart raises obvious suspicions that someone persuaded him to keep his mouth shut about “what had been said to him and by whom.” The police investigation established the six men knew each other and shared information about abused children in state-run boys’ homes, but did not explore the possibility they were part of a wider pedophile ring. The most significant official probe into Kincora since, the Northern Ireland Historical Institutional Abuse Inquiry (HIA), initially raised hopes such information might emerge when it was launched in 2013.

That probe, which centered around allegations by British intelligence whistleblowers Colin Wallace and Fred Holroyd that the UK security state was complicit in systematic child rape at Kincora, appeared to leave MI5 extremely uneasy about the potential for British spies’ darkest secrets coming to light in occupied Ireland.

The HIA, however, appears to have been set up to fail. With no ability to compel MI5 or MI6 to produce records, the commission was forced to accept only whatever heavily redacted files the agencies voluntarily provided.

The decision to limit the scope of the HIA’s oversight came despite appeals by prominent figures including victims of sex abuse at Kincora, parliament’s home affairs committee, and former military officials, who claimed British intelligence was complicit in abuses at Kincora, and demanded the Inquiry be granted the ability to subpoena sensitive documents and witnesses.

As anonymous security and intelligence operatives spoke via videolink in the HIA hearings, Inquiry chair Judge Anthony Hart appeared to take their testimony at face value.

The Inquiry’s handling is all the more shocking given the contents of a June 1982 document provided by MI5 to the HIA showing how the agency’s higherups planned to counteract the inquiry itself.

Anxious to distance themselves from the horrors of Kincora, the British spy agency discussed creating “false files” to counteract “lines of enquiry which it was anticipated” that Caskey might pursue. In other words, MI5 was actively seeking to deceive police investigators through forgery.

But the HIA later declared it was “satisfied” that “the suggestion was not pursued,” concluding that the “false files” were not produced for the purposes of misdirecting the inquiry.

Kincora coverup continues

In 2020, it was revealed that extensive police records on investigations into Kincora from 1980 to 1983 had conveniently been destroyed roughly around the time the Inquiry was established.

The files which survived show the HIA received a number of tips suggesting MI5/6 were indeed entangled in pedophilic abuse at Kincora, only to consistently understate their significance.

For example, MI5 told HIA it had no records of William McGrath working for the agency. Conversely, documents produced by the intelligence service indicate how in April 1972, McGrath, who was “commanding officer of the Tara Brigade,” had not only been plausibly “accused of assaulting small boys,” but “could not account for any cash that had been handed to him over a period of a year.”

The HIA accepted MI5’s risible explanation that this information was not passed on to local police because it was unclear McGrath’s attacks on the boys were pedophilic in nature, rather than simply physical. “We ought not to assume that ‘assault’ would have been interpreted at the time by…[MI5] as being of a sexual type,” an internal document presented to the Inquiry declared.

Responding to a separate MI5 document from November 1973 noting McGrath was implicated in “assaulting small boys,” the HIA noted British intelligence was legally obligated to report such an “arrestable offence” to the police, and that by not doing so, it could be argued “the MI5 officers who had this information were in breach of that duty.” But the Inquiry concluded that “to take that view would be unjustified for several reasons,” primarily that “an unidentified member of Tara” was the source of this “unsubstantiated allegation.”

Similar mental gymnastics were employed to downplay the contents of an October 1989 MI6 file detailing “various allegations surrounding the Kincora Boys’ Home,” which revealed the spy agency “certainly ran at least one agent who was aware of sexual malpractice at the home and who may have mentioned this” to his handler. Judge Hart stultifyingly concluded, “it is quite possible the [MI6] officer misinterpreted what was discussed at the meeting.”

The HIA also insisted MI5 was unaware McGrath worked at Kincora until 1977. But that claim was effectively contradicted by the Inquiry itself, which unveiled MI5 documents from January 1976 clearly stating, “McGrath was reported in March 1975 to be warden of Kincora Boys’ Hostel.” A police memo from November 1973 dispatched to MI5’s director similarly noted McGrath was a “social worker” at Kincora.

Whitewash inquiry implicates MI6 chief in Kincora

As part of its probe, the HIA ordered “searches of documents and records” held by MI5, MI6, GCHQ, and the Metropolitan Police on allegations of child sex abuse by public figures and servants. In response, MI5 released files listing 10 powerful individuals, including diplomats, government ministers, and lawmakers, who Britain’s domestic spying agency had evidence to suggest may have been involved in pedophilic abuse.

Chief among them was veteran spy and dark arts specialist Maurice Oldfield, who oversaw MI6 operations in occupied Ireland throughout the 1970s, first as its deputy then chief. Shortly before his April 1981 death, Oldfield was outed as gay, which precluded him from serving with the agency under contemporary recruitment rules. Resultantly, “MI5 conducted a lengthy investigation to determine whether” Oldfield’s sexual proclivities “posed a risk to national security by making him vulnerable to blackmail or other pressure.”

Over the course of “many interviews,” he “provided information about homosexual encounters with male domestic staff, referred to as ‘houseboys’, whilst serving in the Middle East in the 1940s and hotel stewards in Asia in the 1950s.” Media reporting prior to Oldfield’s death suggested he was “a compulsive” user of “rent boys and young down-and-outs,” which was well-known to his security detail. However, the HIA repeatedly exonerated Oldfield of any wrongdoing, despite receiving bombshell evidence implicating him in the horrendous pedophilic acts perpetrated at Kincora.

Unbelievably, its report concluded “there is insufficient information in the records to deduce whether the term ‘houseboys’” was “used simply to describe domestic staff or to denote youth, leaving ambiguity over the ages of the other parties.” This is despite an anonymous MI6 officer telling the Inquiry the agency possessed four separate “ring binders” documenting Oldfield’s “relationship” with Kincora, his “friendship” with its chief Joe Mains, and potential personal connection to “alleged crimes at the boys’ home.”

Heavily redacted files published by the HIA also indicate MI5 was “aware of allegations” that occupied Ireland’s police knew Oldfield was intimately embroiled in the scandal. An internal agency telegram noted well-grounded suspicions the MI6 chief “was involved in the Kincora boys home affair in the course of occasional visits to Northern Ireland (associated with his job) between 1974 and 1979.” Still, the Inquiry dismissed this as proof of MI5/6 involvement in the child abuse conspiracy, on the grounds these excerpts referred purely to “allegations.”

The Kincora coverup continues today. In April 2021, the BBC announced “a new season of landmark documentaries… set to shine a new light on remarkable stories from Northern Ireland’s recent history.” Among the scheduled films was Lost Boys, which told the hideous tale of how numerous children inexplicably vanished in Belfast during the Troubles. It concluded the cases were all linked to pedophilic abuses at Kincora. Interviewees included several former police officers, who believed their inquiries into the disappearances had been systematically sabotaged by British intelligence.

On the eve of transmission, Lost Boys was pulled from broadcast. BBC managers were reportedly “shocked by its content, particularly evidence of MI5’s involvement in covering up the Kincora saga.” Moore, who consulted on the film, told The Grayzone there are strong insinuations British intelligence took a keen interest in the documentary’s producers, AlleyCats. “The home of one staffer involved in editing Lost Boys was burgled,” he says. “Another Alleycats member suspected a break-in, but could not be entirely certain.”

Having investigated Kincora since it first came to public attention, Moore concludes “MI5 and its cohorts in the police believe they can do what they want with little or no regard for the truth, the law or democracy,” noting British intelligence “somehow persuaded the government to bury Kincora files until 2065 and 2085.” The veteran muckraker also recently learned his private communications with journalists investigating other cases of criminal activity by MI5/6-sponsored loyalist paramilitaries – including murder – have been heavily surveilled.

“The British state has illegally spied on people trying to expose the truth in Northern Ireland for many years, in what they call a ‘defensive operation’. Senior local police chiefs have admitted surveillance tactics were deployed against 320 journalists and 500 lawyers over a decade, including me,” Moore concluded. “My telephone was monitored due to probing government-funded loyalist killers. Like many police officers who’ve looked into these matters, I’m all too aware of how authorities frustrate criminal investigations.”

Janeiro de 2026 marca uma ruptura. Não é mais possível tratar o caso Epstein como um escândalo sexual envolvendo poderosos. O que veio a público agora – documentos, imagens, registros, conexões explícitas – empurrou o debate para outro nível. Não se trata mais de “abusos”, “excessos” ou “crimes individuais”. O que está exposto aponta para práticas sistemáticas, organizadas, ritualizadas. E isso muda tudo.

Durante anos, o público foi condicionado a aceitar a narrativa da ambiguidade. Sempre havia dúvidas, sempre faltava “prova definitiva”, sempre surgia um apelo à cautela. Esse tempo acabou. O material divulgado não deixa espaço para ingenuidade. Quando aparecem evidências de violência extrema contra crianças, de práticas que ultrapassam qualquer categoria criminal convencional, a discussão deixa de ser jurídica e passa a ser civilizacional.

O que está em jogo não é mais quem “frequentou a ilha” ou quem “pegou carona no avião” de Epstein. O que está em jogo é o fato de que redes desse tipo só existem quando contam com proteção institucional profunda. Não há pedofilia ritual, tráfico humano em escala transnacional e produção sistemática de material extremo sem cobertura política, policial, judicial e midiática. Isso não é conspiração: é lógica de poder.

A partir desse ponto, o Ocidente não pode mais se esconder atrás da ideia de decadência gradual. Não é apenas degeneração cultural ou perda de valores. É algo mais sombrio: uma elite que opera fora de qualquer limite moral reconhecível e que, ainda assim, governa. Pessoas envolvidas direta ou indiretamente com esse universo continuam decidindo eleições, guerras, políticas econômicas e o destino de sociedades inteiras.

Outro elemento decisivo é que ainda não sabemos quem está por trás do vazamento. Essa incerteza é central. Pode ser uma jogada de Donald Trump ou de setores ligados a ele, tentando destruir definitivamente seus inimigos internos e reorganizar o poder nos Estados Unidos num sentido minimamente positivo. Pode ser o movimento oposto: uma liberação controlada de material para pressionar Trump a atender os interesses dos Democratas e do Estado Profundo.

E a verdade incômoda, mas impossível de ser ignorada, é que tudo isso pode ser ainda parte de um plano ainda mais profundo e macabro do Estado Profundo – aglomerando tanto Democratas quanto Republicanos – para “resolver a questão Epstein” com uma campanha brutal de dessensibilização coletiva, “normalizando” na opinião pública que a elite ocidental é composta por pedófilos, satanistas e canibais.

Isso reforça um ponto crítico: a verdade só veio à tona porque deixou de ser útil escondê-la. Durante décadas, tudo isso foi conhecido nos bastidores. O silêncio não foi fruto de um fracasso investigativo, foi de uma decisão de alto nível. A imprensa calou. As agências calaram. Os tribunais calaram. O sistema funcionou exatamente como deveria funcionar – para proteger a si mesmo.

As sociedades ocidentais agora enfrentam um dilema que não pode ser resolvido com eleições, comissões parlamentares ou discursos edificantes. Como continuar aceitando a autoridade de instituições que blindaram esse nível de horror? Como manter respeito por leis aplicadas seletivamente por gente que vive acima delas? Como falar em “valores ocidentais” depois disso?

O problema é que o Ocidente moderno desaprendeu a reagir a tudo que é vil e essencialmente mau. Nas sociedades ocidentais, o povo não sabe mais lidar com o mal absoluto – especialmente quando este se encontra no topo da sociedade. Tudo vira procedimento, tudo vira mediação, tudo vira linguagem técnica. Enquanto isso, a confiança social evapora.

Não se trata mais de esquerda e direita, de liberalismo e conservadorismo. Trata-se de uma ruptura entre povo e elite. Entre sociedades que ainda conservam algum senso de limite e uma classe dirigente que opera como se estivesse fora da espécie humana comum.

Se existe algo positivo nesse momento, é o fim da ingenuidade. Não dá mais para fingir que o sistema está “doente mas recuperável”. O que restava do projeto (anti-) civilizacional ocidental foi corroído por dentro. O que vier depois ainda é incerto – e será disputado com todos os meios possíveis e necessários.

Mas uma coisa é clara: depois de Epstein, nada pode continuar como antes. Quem age como se nada tivesse mudado ou não entendeu a gravidade do que veio à tona, ou está fingindo não entender.
